What we believe

Bangor Church of Christ is a non-denominational church (associated with the Christian Church/Churches of Christ).

We believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ his Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Like the Church of the first century, we devote ourselves to the Apostles' teaching, fellowship, communion, and prayer (Acts 2:42).

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, without error, and our ultimate source for eternal truth (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

We believe that we are all sinners cut off from God (Romans 3:23) and that because of this, we all deserve death (Romans 6:23).

We believe that Jesus Christ was sinless (Hebrews 4:15), died on the cross to forgive man's sin, was raised from the dead on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4), and is coming again (John 14:3).

We believe salvation is a free gift, bestowed by God's grace and received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) at the time a believer is immersed in water (baptized) according to the Bible (1 Peter 3:21).  A believer's salvation is secured in Christ alone (Acts 4:12).

We believe that the purpose of the church is to fulfill the great commission of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20).  The Holy Spirit, whom every believer receives at baptism (Acts 2:38-39), leads and guides us in this mission.
